When I was a lad I remember my father, who had been an English, Latin, and Greek teacher, trying to educate my siblings and I about when to use ‘I’ or ‘me’ and ‘Should’ve’ instead of ‘should of’ and ‘It was John and me who did it’ instead of ‘It was me and John who did it.’ As we were speaking or writing we sometimes got things wrong. Sometimes it was through ignorance, at other times it was laziness, and often it was just to see if we could get a reaction out of Dad!

As a forty-five year old adult I still catch myself or occasion talking in my head asking, “If I remove the other person from the sentence will it be ‘I’ or ‘me’?

Currently, in London, I am home schooling the kids. Joel and Luka are using some Grammar cards that I have used as a resource at school for many years. They explain the particular aspect of grammar, then there are some written exercises, followed by a card with the correct answers. Today Luka was doing ‘did vs done.’ Luka’s answers are in bold.
